Damian Chávez (b. 1976, USA) is a artist whose work is primarily figurative, crafted with a timeless style.
His parents, collector-enthusiasts of American and European “Art Deco”, exposed him to art and design from a very young age.
Inspired by the classical legacy, the figures and portraits he makes stand as individual likenesses but also as a psychological device - using a feminine guise allows him a freedom unattainable by other means. Through this, he explores ideas - expressed by a sensual beauty.
His priority when drawing is design, with which he moves the viewer’s eye through each piece. The focus is the feeling & “musical" impact the designed space has, rather than illustrating a specific story/theory.
His signature works are nudes, portraits and allegorical subjects inhabiting a dream-like idealised world.
Each piece is meticulously made by hand with the finest materials possible.
